WHAT WAS THE DECIDING FACTOR IN BECOMING A PART OF THE LP STAFF?

Honestly, it was just talking with Nico Nolan through text messaging and long-distance phone calls. He contacted me one day, making an inquiry about some work I had done for Snoqualmie Pass and asked me if I was interested in doing some artwork for LP. The more I spoke with him, the more I could tell there was a drive and dedication there that was so unusual, it was almost unnerving. Over time, I saw that this passion extended towards those people affiliated within LP as a whole. Everyone involved is SO stoked on this company, it has been an amazing experience. To be a part of that drive and that passion was what sold me. I've NEVER worked for a company that goes the extra mile for its staff, its team and its overall vision. It's something very rare these days to feel like your fellow co-workers are your family and that's what this company has done for me.  I feel like I've got relatives jumping all over the planet and they keep pushing the best parts of me forward.

WHAT MAKES THE LEVITATION PROJECT DIFFERENT?

Working for LP is different because you really get to be yourself.  It is what you would call "The Real Deal". I've never dealt with that before on this level and it's what makes LP stand out from others brands and companies.

HOW DOES WORKING FOR THE LEVITATION PROJECT PUSH YOU AS AN ARTIST?

Working for LP pushes me because I've had the opportunity to work with so many dynamic individuals.  Not just athletes, but true professionals, artists, photographers & more.  Each of these has a unique perspective on style, art, skiing and snowboarding. With that in mind, I've had to open my Pandora's Box a little further, going beyond my own personal style as an artist. Definitely a learning experience. I've had to grow and adapt to the artwork requests I've received and I greatly appreciate that. It's the diversity an artist strives for yet, I've still been able to retain my own personal touch to everything I have created for the company.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AS AN ARTIST?

I'm like any artist.  You want to evolve and grow in your own niche.  You hope that what you create reaches people on various levels, no matter how small.  Hopefully, you get to someone in a major way and it reverberates like an earthquake ...

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START AS A DESIGNER?

I applied for  a graphic designer's position, having every skill as an artist but absolutely no skills on the computer.  With that, I spent a weekend bouncing between a library and a Kinko's, crash-coursing it on a Macintosh.  It worked ......

WHAT DO YOU THINK DEFINES YOUR STYLE?

I had to go to my friends on this one and the best response was "It's raw, it's gritty ... It's very "Seattle" ... It's realistic and earthy, totally functional and necessary.  It doesn't over-reach ... It's precise and authentic".

WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?

I have a Gypsy's interpretation on life & art:  I'm all over the place.

WHO ARE THE TOP 5 PEOPLE YOU RESPECT ALIVE OR DEAD?

  1. My mother, Debbie.  She's the only woman I know that was doing combat training for a police department at 50+ years of age.
  2. My dad, Bernard.  He taught me how to draw & if he were alive today, he'd be pushing me even further.
  3. My stepdad, Mike.  He never bullshits ... E V E R.
  4. My twin sister, Janelle.  What can I say?  She's my clone ...
  5. My son, Avery.  He keeps me creative AND thinks he is Optimus Prime.

DO YOU PREFER A COMPUTER OR A PENCIL?

Pencil by far ... I mean, you saw that scene in "The Dark Knight" right?  The Joker couldn't do that with a Mac ...

WHERE WERE YOU A YEAR AGO?

A year ago, I was talking to Nico about where this company was going to go and working on art for the athletes.

WHERE ARE YOU NOW?

I'm the lead designer for LP, working on even MORE artwork for athletes and burly designed products.  Even with all the mayhem, I'm havin' fun doing it.
