WHY DO YOU WORK FOR THE LEVITATION PROJECT?
I work for the levitation project because I love snowboarding and I have a passion for cinematography filmmaking. The work I do for the Levitation Project is the perfect outlet. I have the opportunity to work with a super talented crew of artists and a sick crew of riders.WHAT WAS THE DECIDING FACTOR IN BECOMING A STAFF MEMBER?
Nico called me up one day back in 2005 and asked if I wanted a job shooting and editing snowboard films. He had seen some of my previous work and liked what he saw I guess. We had never actually met before that phone conversation but I found out we had a bunch of mutual friends and the plan for the project sounded solid so I hopped on board.
I have always been a fan of small rider owned & operated companies so I was stoked to be a part of it and excited to make things happen even if it meant sacrificing time, money and sleep to get it going.
HOW DOES WORKING FOR THE LP PUSH YOU AS AN EDITOR?
When people like Bode Merrill and Jamey Parks are throwing down hammers it gets me pretty stoked. It makes me want to do them the justice of showcasing their skills in a way that would stoke them out as well as the general audience.
Also, if I’m showcasing work next to the work of professionals like Adam Clark and Will Wissman – the bar is set pretty high. There is so much talent on the LP crew – this alone motivates me to give it my all.
HOW IS THE LP DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BRANDS?
The LP is going about things differently than most brands in the industry. Taking design to a new level both artistically and functionally. Focusing on quality products – Not just selling cheap shit to try to make a buck while biting the same old recycled styles that come and go. Rider owned, driven, and operated. The LP is Legit.WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF BEING A STAFF MEMBER?
The biggest highlight for me was 10 days at Mica Creek with our own private lodge and a shiny red helicopter flying us all over the mountains of interior BC.
Bottomless pow, endless pillows, steep lines, natural booters…… so rad.
Shooting and editing some of the skit stuff we did a few years back was super fun. Actually having a budget to make things happen is awesome and was pretty new concept for me.
Just having opportunity to work with such talented people who all share a love for playing in the snow is huge.
WHAT DOES SNOWBOARDING MEAN TO YOU?
Snowboarding has taken me to places I never dreamed I would be, taught me so much about real happiness, taught me respect for nature, and given me a lust for life.
Snowboarding means everything to me. I don’t know where I would be without it. Actually, I guess without snowboarding I would probably be skateboarding.
